Rip, Grip & Whip Mountain Biking Event

Where: Waipa Mountain Bike Park
Cost: $6 per student
Entries Close: Friday 28th August
Who: Year 4, 5, 6, Boys and Girl’s

St Mary's will not be providing supervision for this event. Parents will be responsible for transport and supervision of their child for the entirety of the event. We will need two parent volunteers to be marshals on the day.

Categories:
Course 1: A Taster of Mountain Biking.
- 3KM, A skills session and guided ride for those who have never been MT biking; or not
very confident on a bike.

Course 2: Let Me Fly
- 6KM, for those who can ride, like to go over humps and bumps, grade 2-3.

Course 3: Legend Status
- Approx. 10km, for competent, regular riders, technical sections, Grade 3-4. NB if you are
entering this course, we strongly advise that students have practiced this course with
caregivers prior to event. It is expected you have the appropriate bike for this course.

Race Start times:
8.30am School check in opens – collect number plates and cable ties from HQ
8.45 am Volunteer briefing and dispatch
9.00 am School managers briefing – rules and expectations.
9.15am Karakia and Race Briefing
9.30am approx. Let Me Fly start
10.00am approx. A Taster of MT Biking warm up & skills session
10.20am approx. A Taster of MT Biking start – guided ride.
10.45am approx. Legend Status start
12.15noon Prize giving for Course 3, Motion Entertainment Sportsperson Award
12.30pm Pack down.
