Chess 2025
To register your interest in Chess.
Welcome to another exciting year of chess.
Term 1 is about learning and practicing ready for the tournaments which commence in term 2.
Wednesday lunchtimes are open sessions for all children wanting to play.
I hope to run small group training sessions at other times during the term.
Also each classroom will have chess sets so children can play and practice during their free class time.
Children can access free online learning on two safe websites -
chesskids.com
Lichess.org
They both have different levels of expertise to suit all players.
Tournaments are for years 3-6 and for out of town tournaments numbers will be limited.
Offers of help are welcome. Also I am still collecting scrap metal for recycling - so let me know if you have any to get rid of. Aluminum cans are one thing children could collect.
HAPPY CHESSING
To help reduce costs of tournament entry fees we will need to do some fundraising throughout the year. The main ones are sausage sizzles (will organise a date with Bunnings).
For those parents who offered to help with the fundraising I will be in touch with more details
closer to the scheduled events.
Also I am still doing scrap metal recycling , so let me know if you have any.
Don’t forget to collect all your aluminium cans and drop them to me at school.
Over time it all adds up - have raised close to $500 so far.
Happy Chessing
