Kai ora Parents/Whanau

School opened today with three bubbles operating. We do have a fourth bubble but it didn’t have any students in the bubble for starting today. Some more children will join us as the week goes on. It was lovely to see the big smiles on the faces of the children who are with us today, and they have been busy working with their teachers. For the parents who dropped their children off today, thank you following our rigorous safety procedures. The drop off went very smoothly.

A big thank you for responding to our survey regarding sending children back to school. I really appreciate the efforts you have made to keep your child/children at home during Level 3. We only have a very small number of children at school due to parents working in essential services. For those parents who have sent their child to school, you can be assured that we are carefully following safety procedures with social distancing and cleaning.

At this time I want to acknowledge and thank our awesome staff. Teachers have put in an incredible amount of work to ensure that children can continue their learning from home. As well, most teachers are working in one of the bubbles at school, juggling the online learning and learning for the children at school. Our support staff have also been incredible with the help they have been giving to our teachers and students. Cleaners also have gone the extra mile, ensuring the spaces that are being used by the bubbles have been cleaned and the carpets shampooed. Richard, our caretaker, has been onsite since last Wednesday mowing lawns and putting things in place for the start today. It has been a huge effort so thank you everyone.

We have been blessed with beautiful weather over the last month which has made the lockdown a lot more bearable. Fingers crossed that the weather stays settled.

Scripture Reflection: (Genesis 1:26-28)

“God spoke: ‘Let us make human beings in our image, make them reflecting our nature so they can be responsible for the fish in the sea, the birds in the air, the cattle, and, yes, Earth itself, and every animal that moves on the face of Earth.’ God created human beings; he created them godlike, Reflecting God’s nature. He created them male and female. God blessed them: ‘Prosper! Reproduce! Fill Earth! Take charge! Be responsible for fish in the sea and birds in the air, for every living thing that moves on the face of Earth.’”
