Newsletter No 24 19 August 2020

Dear Parents/Whanau

Kia Ora
We have remained in Level 2, thank goodness. I think it is much better to have our children at school learning rather than at home. However, we are well prepared if we do move into level 3 sometime. Please send your children to school unless the child is unwell.

Level 2 protocols remain in place. The important things from the protocols are around hygiene: children washing/sanitising their hands, entering school, after play, lunch, after visiting the bathroom. Teachers are also wiping down surfaces in their classrooms after play and lunch. We are also reminding children of sneezing and coughing etiquette.

Last week we sent packs of books and resources home just in case we moved to Level 3 on Friday. Kakano team has asked that you return the packs to school so they can use the books at school. If your child is in the Kakano team could you please make sure that you return the packs to school.

We were unable to have our Liturgy together as a school to celebrate the Assumption of Mary but each class was able to have their own Liturgy. We did have our Grandparents/Grandfriends Day and Mass scheduled for September 11th. In the current climate with Covid we have decided to cancel this awesome day for this year. It is a pity but I think it is important that we keep everyone safe at this time.

On Monday we launched our Food Pantry. If you need food, please help yourself. On Mondays there will be loaves of bread, buns, iced buns etc from Baker’s Delight. We receive the bread on Sunday so we will put some of it in the freezer and on Thursday we will put the frozen loaves in the food pantry too. If you have any food that you are able to donate please leave in the pantry. Thank you to those who have already donated goods. The pantry will be set up in the Church Car Park on fine days.

A reminder that we have a Teachers’ Only day on Friday 18th September. We will be involved in professional development focusing on science and digital technologies. Our other Teacher only day is scheduled in Term 4 on Friday 13th November.

Kind regards,
David Macmillan, Principal
