Hello Everyone, Last Friday we had our first school Mass. Thanks to those who joined us for this. We were able to welcome our new students and families during the Mass and also had a chance to meet our new Parish Priest, Father Thomas. Tomorrow at 2.00pm at St Mary’s Church, our Student Leaders for 2021 are being commissioned and blessed. Anyone is welcome to attend this ceremony. This weekend we have a number of students being confirmed at the 10.00am Mass at St Mary’s. We wish them God’s blessings as they receive this wonderful sacrament. Congratulations to :

Next Thursday is our GALA DAY. Our PTA are doing an amazing job bringing the event together. Prayers please that we get a beautiful fine evening. Our Gala Day is a really awesome community night, so I encourage you all to come: invite everyone you possibly can. The Gala starts at 4.00pm and finishes at 7.00pm. Thanks to all those families who have contributed so far to our Gala. Please see our Gala Countdown requirements later in this newsletter. Of course we will accept other things up until Gala Day. Points to note - No fresh cream items please; cake boxes will be given out to all students for our coffee and cake stall and items will be priced by our PTA. Baby Elephant includes – children’s toys, sports gear, CD’s, DVD’s, puzzles, games, lego, books. PLEASE NO damaged or broken second hand goods. All gala contributions to be taken to your child’s class box in the hall foyer as each item received wins 1 point towards their class; the class that receives the most points (pro-rata on number of children per class) wins a surprise lunch!!! The class that brings in the most cakes also wins a special prize. It is with regret that our librarian Kay Hall has resigned from her position and is moving to Palmerston North. The Librarian position has been advertised on Trade Me Jobs. A copy of the Job Description is available from the school office or on the Trade Me Website. Enjoy the busy week ahead, and again, requesting prayers for a fine day for the Gala Day. We look forward to seeing everyone at our school gala 4pm – 7pm on Thursday 1st March. Have an awesome week. FROM OUR DIRECTOR OF RELIGIOUS STUDIES:
Kia ora everyone! Classes have begun their Caritas unit this week. The Caritas Lenten theme for 2021 is "A New Way Forward". In our changing world we all need to work together to find a new way forward to transform our world into one that promotes love, hope and justice for all. It feels very timely that the theme for Lent 2021 is highlighting moving forward as we reflect on the events of 2020 and the continuing impact of the pandemic. The education resources have been designed to focus on the Gospel readings for each Sunday during Lent and connect to the work of Caritas and the call for justice in our world. So students will visit and unpack the weekly Gospel readings and reflect what they say to us today. We pray for our year 6 students who are soon to be commissioned into their leadership roles for 2021. We also pray for those students undertaking their Sacraments at this time. Kia noho te Atua ki a koe kia tutaki ra ano tatou.
