I would like to thank our DRS, Bernie Hall and the RE team for organising this event.

We had our Athletics Sports on Thursday. It was a perfect day, weather-wise. Thanks to Lorna Dobson and the team of St Mary’s staff who helped to ensure the day ran smoothly. A big thank you to the number of parents and whanau who also helped out on the day. Our team of athletes will now be selected to compete in the interschool sports this month.

The Working bee was successful and we managed to get a lot done: new wheels on pool cover trolley, school washed, aluminium joinery paint removal, 4 new picnic tables made, new gate by caretaker’s shed, new fence erected by library, broken tiles removed from garden seats, new barrels planted, fence water blasted ready for staining, all bench seats stained or painted, gardens tidied. Thanks to our caretaker Michelle Strathern for coordinating this day. Thanks to the huge support we got from parents, your help was very much appreciated. As you can see from the list, a lot was achieved.

Loraine Umadhay and Samantha Bite competed in the Aquabots National Competition in Nelson over the weekend. Overall there were 35 teams in the competition - 11 High School teams, 12 Intermediate teams and 12 Primary teams. The Intermediate and Primary students competed together in one category. Out of the 24 teams the girls were placed 1st in the Journey Across the Pacific obstacle and gained 2nd place in the Treasure Collection obstacle. A huge achievement. Well done girls.

Please return your raffle books **urgently** to the school office. The raffle is being drawn this Friday at the Grandparents’ Concert.

Friday 15th November is a Teacher Only Day. There will be no school on this day. If you need to enrol your child in the Glenholme After School Care, please contact Mary-Ann Roling on 021 215599. She will be running this at St Mary’s. Thank you for your support with this.

REMINDER TOMORROW NIGHT: SACRAMENTAL PROGRAMME.
We encourage all of our students at St Mary’s to continue their Catholic faith journey and to consider being involved in the Sacramental programmes, focusing on Reconciliation, Communion and Confirmation. There is an information evening for you to find out more about the Programmes. This is on tomorrow 7th November at 7pm at St Mary’s Catholic Church. PLEASE NOTE; At the briefing, dates will be given and fees of $20.00 are required to be paid. EFTPOS is available. For children who were not baptised in Rotorua, please bring a baptismal certificate. The children are required to be 8 years old by the 1st November 2018. Speld Learning Difficulties

Hi, my name is Patricia and I work with children who struggle to keep up with their peers.

Specific Learning Difficulties (SLD) such as dyslexia (a learning disorder that can cause difficulties with reading, writing and spelling) and dyscalculia (a pattern of difficulties characterized by problems processing numerical information, learning arithmetic facts and performing accurate or fluent calculations). This can affect the way your child achieves at school. I can help!

I am a Speld NZ teacher and I can provide evidence-based strategies and tools that will facilitate your child's academic achievement.

If you need assistance send me an email.
Teacher: Patricia Sabourin nableyou@gmail.com

I look forward to supporting your child to reach their goals.

FROM OUR DIRECTOR OF RELIGIOUS STUDIES:

Nǐ hǎo everyone!

This Friday we celebrate Grandparents Day and special people in our lives. Please invite your family to join us for Mass on Friday at 9:00am. We will welcome new students at this Mass. Mass will be followed with visitors being invited to look around their little person's classroom and enjoy a shared morning tea. A cup of tea will be available from the hall at 10:30 for our visitors. A mini concert will be held from 10.45am to showcase some of our school groups. Our photo booth will also be available for you to snap a shot with your family.

Classes have been busy learning about God this term as well as the importance of the Rosary. November is the month to pray Rosary for our loved ones who have died.
