I would like to thank our DRS, Bernie Hall and the RE team for organising this event.

We managed to have our Athletics Sports on Monday despite the cool wind. Thanks to Lorna Dobson and the team of St Mary’s staff who helped to ensure the day ran smoothly. A big thank you to the number of parents and whanau who also helped out on the day. Our team of athletes will now be selected to compete in the interschool sports this month.

The Working bee was successful and we managed to get a lot done: playground equipment replaced in the senior playground, bird swing fixed, new surrounds for the sandpit, kakano container undercoated, first coat of paint on the Ranolf St fence, new gate put into the chooks/orchard area so Kakano children can access the area from their classrooms, 3 retractable hoses installed in different parts of the school, area in pool enclosure ready for concreting, gardens weeded, bushes pruned, area behind caretakers shed cleared for bikes to be parked there safely, aluminum doors cleaned, fence around astroturf repaired, netting in the rabbit enclosure repaired, door jambs painted and autex laid in the area between Rooms 3 & 4, all the gutters cleared and the second hand cubby holes we inherited, stained. I think that’s all. Thanks to our caretaker Michelle Strathern for coordinating this day. Thanks to the huge support we got from parents, your help was very much appreciated. As you can see from the list, a lot was achieved.

Michelle would also like to say, “Thank you so much to the staff members, parents, children and even a school neighbour who helped at the working bee last Saturday. A lot was accomplished despite the drizzly rain. We are so grateful to have in our school community such dedicated and talented people who give their time so willingly to undertake tasks that are required from time to time. I give my personal appreciation to you all as without you my job would be so much harder. You all have your own occupations but time is always found to assist when you can and without remuneration. Thank you so much for finding that time and helping make St Mary's School be the great place it is. Kind regards. Michelle.”

Michelle and Jamie are going to put the final coat on the Ranolf St fence soon, so if you are able to help with that please contact Michelle Strathern at school.

While this was going on, Bernie Hall was busy building the set for the show with willing builder parent Aaron Brown. Thank you both too.

It looks like at this stage that the teachers’ strike will go ahead, so our school will be closed this coming Tuesday 13th November. If you need to enrol your child in the Glenholme After School Care, please contact Mary-Ann Roling on 021 215599. Thank you for your support with this.

See you on Friday.

Have an enjoyable week.

Regards

David Macmillan, Principal.

IT WOULD BE APPRECIATED IF STUDENTS WHO WON TROPHIES LAST YEAR
COULD PLEASE RETURN THEM TO OUR SCHOOL OFFICE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE

SCHOOL PRODUCTION-NOAH THE MUSICAL. A Monica Moore Production.
Production Up-Date:

Thank you to those cast members who attended rehearsal on Sunday and to those who let me know in advance if they couldn’t. Sunday rehearsal is 11:00-12:30 THIS Sunday.
Students doing the Sacramental Programme are excused.
This is the first time the whole school have had every class involved in a singing/dancing part in a school production-not an easy feat! Every show has main characters and minor characters. Every character, as I have explained to the children is equally important.
Please keep in mind this is a school production not a Hollywood movie!

PLEASE NOTE:
Production Rehearsals for Cast are:
This Sunday 11:00-12:30
Monday 3:15-4:15
Monday's and Thursday's lunchtimes.
Children doing the Sacramental Programme are excused on Sunday.

Can you help?
We need some dedicated teams to help with some prop construction and some costumes.
If you are able to help us out-please email me and let me know what you are keen to assist with.

Animal Onesies:
Is anyone able to donate any Animal Onesies?

Sponsorship: We would also welcome any businesses or individuals that are keen to sponsor our production. As there are always costs involved in putting on a show this size. Your business logo will be on the programme and digitally displayed in all 4 show performances.
If you are able to help us out with sponsorship please email Margo Mason our awesome admin wonder woman, with your details and business logo.

Thanking you.

From our Director of Religious Studies

Grandparents /Friends Day is this Friday! Let your relatives know so they have time to travel, it would be wonderful to see them. We have Mass at 9:00, and will also welcome our new students. This will be followed by a morning tea in classes. Then a cup of tea provided by our amazing PTA, ready to sit, relax and enjoy entertainment by our various school groups. Including: Pasifika group, Gymnastics, Kapa Haka, Choir, Dance and Marimba. There will be an opportunity for you to have your family photo taken at our ‘photo booth’ so bring your cameras and our expert photographers will take your photo for you!

Last week we had a wonderful Liturgy for All Saints/ All Souls Day. Students were invited to write prayers for loved ones. The Manuka Team went to Mass for All Souls Day and then delivered these prayers to the Church.
